Curly Hair Education & School Programs

overview

Curly Lifestyles expanded beyond digital content through educational programming delivered in both university and high-school settings.

The sessions introduced practical curly hair education while creating space for conversations about confidence, identity and personal hair experiences. Each program was shaped around the age, interests and familiarity of the audience rather than using the same presentation for every group.

This work demonstrated how the purpose of Curly Lifestyles could be translated into an engaging in-person experience.

The process

Many people grow up without clear or accessible guidance on how to understand and care for their natural hair. The opportunity was to create programming that made curly hair education approachable while giving participants room to ask questions, share experiences and see their hair represented positively.

1. shaping the program

The content was adapted for two different learning environments: a university setting and a high school.

Each session considered the audience’s age, level of knowledge and likely questions. This made it possible to maintain the same central purpose while changing the examples, discussion style and depth of information.

The result was a more relevant experience than delivering one standard presentation to every group.

2. creating content

The sessions brought together practical hair education and the personal experiences connected to textured hair.

Topics included understanding curly hair, everyday care, styling, common challenges and how people develop confidence in their natural texture.

The information was presented in a conversational and accessible way so participants could connect it to their own routines and experiences.

3. facilitating conversation

The programs were designed to be interactive rather than lecture-based.

Participants were encouraged to ask questions, discuss their experiences and speak openly about what they had learned—or had never been taught—about their hair.

This created a more comfortable learning environment and helped turn the sessions into shared conversations rather than one-way presentations.

4. extending the brand

The school programs gave Curly Lifestyles a way to connect with audiences beyond social media.

They translated the brand’s focus on education, identity and confidence into a direct community experience. The sessions also demonstrated how the concept could be adapted for different groups while remaining true to its central purpose
