Niagara Falls BIA EVENTS

Integrated Marketing, Events & Audience Growth

Overview

Led marketing and communications across a portfolio of downtown events reaching audiences from 500 to 25,000.

I managed employees and interns, a $50,000 marketing budget and campaigns across billboard, radio, website, social media and community outreach.

Role

  • Marketing Communications Manager

1. santa claus parade

One of Downtown Niagara Falls’ largest family events, connected with the city’s tree lighting and Christmas Market.

The result

The campaign helped connect multiple downtown holiday activities and encouraged visitors to spend more time in the area.

My role

Managed the promotional campaign across website, social media and stakeholder communications, while coordinating responsibilities across employees and interns.

2. Christmas Market

A multi-week outdoor holiday market featuring local vendors, food, artists, entertainment and seasonal programming.

The result

The market strengthened Downtown Niagara Falls as a seasonal destination and later received an Ontario Business Improvement Area Association award for Special Events and Promotions – Large, recognizing the scale and quality of the initiative.

My role

Managed the promotional strategy across billboard, radio, website and social media within the BIA’s broader $50,000 marketing budget.

3. 15-Ribbon-Cutting Celebration

During the COVID-19 pandemic, 21 new businesses opened in Downtown Niagara Falls. I led a mass ribbon-cutting celebration for 15 of them alongside the Mayor, local dignitaries and community stakeholders.

The result

The event generated visibility for 15 new businesses and brought together business owners, municipal leaders and the community.

It also highlighted a larger economic-development story: despite the challenges of the pandemic, new entrepreneurs were continuing to invest in Downtown Niagara Falls.

My role

Directed the full project from planning through execution. I managed employees and interns, coordinated participating businesses, organized event details, led public and media communications and oversaw promotional content and scheduling.

4. Community Movie Nights

The community movie nights provided accessible, family-friendly entertainment and gave residents another reason to spend time in Downtown Niagara Falls during the event season.

The result

The series created recurring downtown activity and gave families a reason to return throughout the season, supporting the BIA’s goal of building consistent foot traffic beyond major annual events.

My role

Managed the series from planning through promotion and execution. I coordinated schedules, event details, staff responsibilities, website and social media promotion, and ongoing communication for each movie night.

I managed the release of movie announcements, schedules, reminders and event information through the BIA’s website and social media channels.

During my time as Marketing Communications Manager:

  • Attendance ranged from 500 to 25,000

  • Social campaigns increased 70%

  • Website traffic increased 40%

  • Managed a $50,000 marketing budget
