Curly Lifestyles

Brand Marketing and Partnerships

1. Brand Development and Audience Growth

I developed Curly Lifestyles into a digital platform focused on curly hair education, representation and professional discovery.

I planned content around what the audience was asking about, tested different formats and topics, and used engagement patterns to guide what the brand focused on next.

Through content strategy, copywriting and community engagement, Curly Lifestyles grew into a digital community of more than 25,000 people and created an audience large enough to support partnerships, research and new programming.

2. Partnerships and Business Development

I built partnerships with brands, businesses, educators and community organizations to support content, audience growth and new opportunities for Curly Lifestyles.

I developed partnership concepts, pitched opportunities, coordinated deliverables and worked with partners on campaigns.

The business secured $15,000 in funding through three pitch competitions, giving me outside validation and resources to continue developing the platform and its next stage of growth.

3. Audience Research

I coordinated audience and business research with 30 master’s students from the University of Niagara Falls Canada.

The projects gave students a real business and audience to study while giving me additional research on audience behaviour, marketing opportunities and possible directions for the platform.

The research gave me a stronger base for decisions around content, partnerships and future business opportunities.

4. COMMUNITY EDUCATION

I expanded Curly Lifestyles into educational programming and high-school audiences, adapting the sessions to the age group, setting and learning environment.

The programming combined practical curly-hair education with conversations around identity, confidence and lived experience, allowing the brand to address some of the deeper issues behind how people understand and care for their hair.

This created a new in-person channel for Curly Lifestyles, allowing the brand to build relationships with educational institutions and connect directly with students instead of engaging with the audience only online.

5. In-Person Brand Engagement

I brought Curly Lifestyles into festivals, hair shows, community markets and live events through interviews, photography, video and editorial coverage.

Those environments gave me direct access to audiences, hairstylists, brands and industry professionals. I could create original content while also hearing firsthand what people were talking about, asking for and responding to.

The events gave Curly Lifestyles original editorial content, industry relationships and direct audience insight.

6. Developing the Digital Platform

I developed the Curly Lifestyles website by planning how the content would be organized, what resources the audience needed and how stylist and barber discovery would fit into the platform.

I structured the site around educational articles, editorial content and professional listings, creating one central place for the audience to find information beyond social media.
