Niagara Falls BIA EVENTS

Event Marketing Campaigns

1. santa claus parade

One of Downtown Niagara Falls’ largest family holiday events.

my Impact

The campaign helped attract 15,000 attendees to the holiday opening weekend through coordinated radio, billboard, digital and community promotions. It promoted the Santa Claus Parade alongside the tree lighting and Christmas Market, giving visitors multiple reasons to spend time downtown.

my role

I led the marketing and communications for the Santa Claus Parade from pre-event promotion through day-of execution with a team of 7 staff and volunteers.

I led the planning of the promotional schedule across social media, the BIA website, radio and billboards.

I coordinated day-of communications between parade organizers, staff, media, stakeholders and Cogeco’s broadcast team, keeping everyone updated as schedules and event details changed.

2. Christmas Market

A multi-week outdoor holiday market featuring local vendors, food, artists, entertainment and seasonal programming in downtown Niagara Falls.

The result

The campaign gave the Christmas Market consistent visibility across both traditional and digital channels throughout its run, helping turn it into one of Downtown Niagara Falls’ major seasonal attractions.

The event drew 15,000+ attendees during its opening weekend and later received provincial recognition from the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association for Special Events and Promotions – Large.

My role

I led the marketing campaign for the multi-week Christmas Market, planning promotion across radio, billboards, the BIA website and social media within a $50,000 marketing budget.

My team and I used audience and demographic information to help guide where advertising was placed and how the market was promoted, while keeping digital content and event information active throughout the market.

3. 15-Ribbon-Cutting Celebration

During the COVID-19 pandemic, 15 new businesses opened in Downtown Niagara Falls.

The result

Packaging the openings into one larger story created a stronger media angle: despite the challenges of the pandemic, new entrepreneurs were continuing to invest in Downtown Niagara Falls.

My role

I developed a large ribbon-cutting celebration for 15 new businesses that opened during the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside the Mayor, local dignitaries and community stakeholders.

I developed the event schedule, managed promotional and public communications, sent out invitations, coordinated staff responsibilities and organized the businesses into one larger celebration instead of treating each opening as a separate announcement.

4. Community Movie Nights

A recurring summer event series that offered accessible, family-friendly entertainment in Downtown Niagara Falls.

The result

The recurring format gave us multiple opportunities to market the downtown throughout the season instead of relying only on major annual events.

My role

I led the planning, marketing and delivery of the community movie night series, coordinating event schedules, staff responsibilities and public communications. I oversaw promotion through the BIA’s website and social media channels, ensuring movie announcements, reminders and event details were clear, consistent and published on time.
