Downtown Welland BIA

Wellandopoly Fundraising Campaign

1. developing the partnership strategy

I worked alongside the Executive Director of the Downtown Welland BIA to develop a sponsorship strategy for Wellandopoly, a community fundraising initiative featuring local businesses on a customized Monopoly-style board game.

We identified potential business partners and developed an outreach approach that introduced the concept, outlined sponsorship opportunities, and demonstrated how participating businesses could gain visibility while supporting the local community.

2. Securing Business Sponsorships

We contacted local business owners, introduce the Wellandopoly concept, and invited them to sponsor properties on the game board.

Through these efforts, we secured sponsorships from 36 Welland business owners, bringing together a variety of local businesses to represent the community.

3. Coordinating Sponsorship Fulfillment

Once businesses committed to the campaign, I supported the collection and organization of the information needed to include them on the board.

This included maintaining communication with sponsors, confirming business details, and coordinating the materials required for the final board design. The process involved managing multiple business relationships while keeping sponsor commitments aligned with the project's requirements.

4. Marketing the Campaign

I promoted Wellandopoly through the BIA’s email and social media channels to build awareness, introduce participating businesses and encourage residents to support the campaign.

The marketing focused on the local nature of the game and the opportunity for residents to interact with familiar businesses in a fun and recognizable format.
